CITRA Kembara Tekstil or Textiles Trails is a travel programme designed for our members to explore textiles together. It is important to travel and see what other people are doing in textiles. So many of us don't even know how traditional textiles are made so visiting workshops and going to the "source" will serve to inform and even inspire!
In 2022, we hosted our maiden trip to Kelantan, (Kota Bahru aka KB) to explore batik there. The small group of 15 members (a mix of experts, designers, general textile lovers, "newbies" and the Citra committee) travelled to KB for a 3 days and 2 nights stay. It was a fun and jam packed trip that included visits to maker workshops and eating delicious Kelantanese "local favourites food. What makes these textile trails so special is the connections CITRA can make for our members. Our personal relationships with maker, educational bodies and agencies enable us to curate a richer and more engaging trip for all. Imagine intimate tea time and walk throughs hosted by our makers and eventually a slightly crazy shopping spree at the connecting showrooms or shops! Fabrics pieces are fresh of the drying rack and you also get to learn how it's made. Our trips will make you fall in love with textiles for sure!
